About the school
Cowie Primary School was opened in August 1886. It was later extended in 1905 and 1911 and eventually accommodated both primary and junior secondary departments. The building has undergone extensive refurbishment in recent years, the most recent starting in November 2010 and finishing in August 2011. Classrooms are bright and well equipped. We have a combined gym hall and dining room and a variety of meeting and learning rooms.
There is a large playground with seating areas and a fenced off area of grass. This area is one of our priorities for development.
Education Scotland has responsibility for evaluating the quality of pre-school education, all schools, teacher education, community learning and development, further education and local authorities. They also publish reports about services for children and evaluate child protection services.
Each school has it own geographic area called a catchment area. Normally, your child will attend your local catchment school. If you wish your child to attend a school other than the catchment school you are required to make a placing request.
