True to their love of the great outdoors members of the Friends of Plean Country Park were out in the fresh air for their AGM recently.

The Friends group were joined by Stirling Council’s Environment Convener, Councillor Danny Gibson, in the park’s walled garden where they have recently been working to create a new community resource in the form of an “outdoor classroom”.

Worked up from plans produced by the Friends and Stirling Council’s Countryside Ranger Service work has been jointly funded by the Council and Clackmannanshire and Stirling Environment Trust.

Councillor Gibson said: “We’ve always worked very closely with the Friends of Plean Country Park and were more than happy to back this initiative which provides a great resource for community groups looking for somewhere a bit different to hold their events.

“I am aware just how much the Council’s Countryside Rangers value the active involvement of the Friends volunteers which helps provide and develop this fantastic country park for Plean and the wider Council area.”

The “classroom” can comfortably hold around 22 people, with an outdoor space also available for use in good weather.

Any groups interested in booking should email countryside@stirling.gov.uk

Friends of Plean Country Park also have their own website at http://pleancountrypark.org.uk providing information on the park, details of events and volunteering opportunities for anyone keen to lend a hand.
