Read the Past Imagine the Future
The Read The Past Imagine the Future campaign supported by the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC), will be live in Stirling libraries from April 24th to end 3rd December 2017. Read the Past Imagine the Future aims to raise awareness among people of all ages to discover what their local library offers and aims to encourage reading throughout communities across Scotland and to widen knowledge of local and national history.
The seven month Scottish national reading promotion celebrating the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology focuses on our heritage and depicts images and ideas of the future.
Library users can also enter a competition to win a £50.00 book token by submitting a book review, either to their local library or on Twitter using the hashtag #ReadThePast17 and tagging @stirlinglibs. More details are available in local libraries
Stirling Council Libraries and Archives have teamed up with NHS Forth Valley Psychology Department and 3 local library services and are working in partnership to offer a local wellbeing website Heal The Whole of Me to provide Wellbeing Books.
Wellbeing Books are a range of recommended self-help and guided self-help materials available to the public to help them improve their own mental wellbeing. Books on subjects such as Bereavement, Chronic pain, Parenting, Self-esteem are available.The book scheme includes a range of books for children and young people and those with dementia and their carers
Reading Group Collections
Stirling Libraries have multiple copies of books in our reading group collections. You can borrow sets of ten books for your reading group completely free of charge! Just pick a title, let us know and we will have them delivered to your nearest library in time for your Book Group.
