Biography

Elaine Watterson became an elected member of Stirling Council in 2022, serving the Teith & Trossachs ward.

And following a meeting of Stirling Council on Thursday, 7 December 2023, she was appointed Provost of Stirling.

Provost Watterson has lived in Callander for the last 17 years and is passionate about representing all communities across the Stirling area.

A semi retired tax advisor, she is particularly committed to the rights of older people and was appointed Stirling’s Older People Champion in May 2023 to ensure their needs, concerns and challenges are considered in the design and delivery of services, as well as supporting wellbeing activities.

Provost Watterson is a strong advocate for economic development in the Stirling area and the benefits it brings to communities and also enjoys working with a range of third sector organisations.

A strong supporter of Stirling’s cultural scene, she is a trustee of Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum and the Guardians of Scotland Trust. She is also a member of the Stirling University Court, chair of the Patrons of Cowane’s Hospital and a board member of the Odenwald Trust.

Away from her duties with Stirling Council, Provost Watterson enjoys cooking and walking, massive Bruce Springsteen fan – and she has not given up hope of seeing her sporting favourites, the Scotland rugby team, win the Six Nations for the first time!

Civic hospitality

The Provost is always keen to hear of any celebrations to mark special occasions, events or achievements. We are also keen to support community, business, tourism and environment events that promote Stirling. Funding can be made available for appropriate events.
