Exploring Routes to Learning
'Exploring Routes to Learning' was launched in September 2011. The project follows the learning experiences of participants and practitioners in partner institutions in Portugal, Austria, Estonia, Finland, Ireland and Spain to produce an anthology of work completed during the project's lifetime and host an exhibition.
It follows on from the previous 'Breaking Down Barriers' project, which engaged older learners in breaking down personal, social and cultural barriers to learning. The focus of the project was for learners to gain and share knowledge and understanding of their own culture as well as to develop a variety of literacy skills.
The project received an award for Good Practice and an Adult Learners' Week Award, both national awards. Recently, the project was awarded 'highly commended' in the British Council and Ecorys 'Your Story' competition.
Both projects have received funding from Grundtvig, part of the European Union's Lifelong Learning Programme, which supports non-vocational adult learning projects.
