The planning system is used to make decisions about future development and the use of land in our towns, cities and countryside.
Online Planning - view and comment
You can find details of all applications submitted to the Council since 1990 (full details are available for applications from 1998) and comment on them via the Planning Portal.
How to object or comment on a planning application.
To comment on a planning application you first need to register.
- Once logged in, search for your desired application (e.g "Wallace High School")
- Select the application and you will see the comment tab.
- Your comment will be submitted and this will be available online to the public. We will not display your telephone number or email address, but your address will be shown.
- In the advanced tab you can search by date range, you can also view the weekly/monthly lists. Viewing applications does not require you to login.
What you can comment on
We can take into account material planning considerations.
These cover a wide range of issues including:
loss of privacy
loss of trees
loss of daylight
traffic generation and road safety
noise or smell
impact on listed buildings and/or conservation areas
impact of increased activity
Matters that are not material to planning application assessment and cannot be considered include:
requirements under building regulations or other non-planning laws such as structural stability, fire precautions or the like
private issues between neighbours such as party wall disputes, damage to property, private rights of ways, covenants or the like
loss of a view
alternative types of development you might prefer
