We provide time-limited support (up to eight weeks) for individuals over 65 who are currently undergoing rehabilitation following an identified medical condition, such as recovering from a fall or after a period of ill health. We work in partnership with NHS Forth Valley's Reach team to provide an exercise programme called Otago.
Otago exercise programme
Otago is a programme initially developed by the University of Otago medical school, New Zealand. Utilising leg strengthening and balance retraining exercises, Otago can reduce your chances of having a fall by a third and, if a fall occurs, it reduces the severity of associated injuries.
We work with you to:
- promote your independence
- improve your mobility through increased confidence and skills
- reduce associated risks of falling
- offering an opportunity to socialise with others in your local community
Locations
Therapeutic Day Support is offered at Callander Medical Centre and Stirling Community Hospital.
